What Do I Worship (Part 1)

This is the next article to be posted around the topic of worship in an endeavour to hopefully bring some thought and understanding about an important part of our lives that is often misunderstood. It's important to remember that Theology and Passion need to co-exist.

Thanks to Nathan Lawrenson for the material. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

You can tell what a person worships by the way he lives his life.

So, how do you know what you worship? It’s easy. You simply follow the trail of your time, your affection, your energy, your money, and your allegiance. At the end of that trail you’ll find a throne; and whatever, or whomever, is on that throne is what’s of highest value to you. On that throne is what you worship.

Matthew 6:21 says, “Where you’re treasure is, there your heart will also be.”

And the trail never lies. We may say we value this thing or that thing more than any other, but the volume of our actions speaks louder than our words. In the end, our worship is more about what we do than what we say.

CD Review: Paul Baloche - A Greater Song

While doing my usual surfing of the internet I came across a few good reviews of this CD. I must admit I have not been a huge fan of Baloche's style (was a bit dated for me) so I was a bit reluctant to buy his latest CD. But last week I decided to "take the plunge" and boy am I glad I did!

This CD is a gem! Jam-packed with great songs and with a more modern feel than his previous CD's. But more than that is the "heart of worship" that seems to flow out of this cd. There is a definite sense of journeying into God's presence.

I'm pretty positive we will be using quite a few songs from this CD. So if you want to get an idea of what's coming - I suggest you get hold of the CD.

Look out specifically for: "Hosanna" (we already use this one), "A Greater Song", "I will Boast" and "Rising"

Who is a Worshipper

We will be posting various articles around the topic of worship. Please feel free to comment or ask questions by clicking on comments.

Who is a Worshipper?

The simple answer – everyone! In his book, The Air I Breathe, Louis Giglio writes the following:

“You my friend…are a worshiper! There, I said it. Everyday, all day long, in every place, you worship. It’s what you do. It’s who you are. We are all worshipers, created to bring pleasure and honor to the God who made us. You may not consider yourself a ‘worshiping’ kind of person, but you cannot help but worship something. It’s what you were made to do.”

Worship is our response to what we value most. So whether it be TV, food, the Beatles or Beyonce – it’s still worship.

We were created to worship, we don’t have a choice. The only choice we do have is what or whom we give our worship to.

The Air I Breathe by Louis Giglio is a great, easy to read book about worship. It’s available at most Christian Book stores and comes highly recommended. I also have a copy – maybe if you are nice to me I will let you read it ; )
